  • Devices will be issued in NEW, GOOD, or FAIR condition.

  • Condition of the device(s) issued to each student will be entered into an inventory system at distribution.

  • All devices will be issued in working condition, but we realize there will be normal wear and tear including faulty keyboard keys, power adapters, batteries, headset plugs, and even some screen cracks. Faulty components are typically in good physical condition, but have just quit functioning properly at no fault of the user. Students/Parents are expected to report any kind of damage or faulty component to their teacher as soon as possible. Devices will then be reviewed by WMSD tech staff to determine if the damage is normal wear and tear, covered by warranty, can be repaired vs replacement, and to what level of restitution (if any) is required before issuing another device. If determined no restitution is required the student will be issued a replacement device as soon as possible.

  • Loss, theft, or malicious damage to a device may result in restitution to be made before another device is issued. Restitution amount is determined by the condition of device at issue and the following scale.

    • NEW Chromebook = $300

    • GOOD Chromebook = $200

    • FAIR Chromebook = $100

    • Chromebook Power adapters = $50

    • Screen Repair $75 and Keyboar replacements are $40

  • Malicious damage will be determined by WMSD staff. For example, malicious damage may be physical damage caused by negligence or complete disregard for care of the device. (left in driveway and ran over by car, device thrown at person or object, etc.)

  • If a student device is damaged by another student it is the responsibility of the student that damaged
the device to pay damages. ( There will need to be proof that another student damaged the device.)

  • Restitution for theft may be waived with valid police report provided by the student/parent.
